連鎖捐腎：六人得到新腎

舊金山女子茱莉‧布洛莎德同意捐一腎給一名男性，他有個親戚願意捐腎給他，但基因不合。這位親戚願意轉捐一腎給一位個也有親戚願捐，但基因也不合的待腎人。一套由59歲換腎人David Jacobs研發的腎臟比對軟體幫他們配對，最後湊成六人獲得新腎。其中三人的換腎5日實施，另外三人6 日實施，地點是舊金山的「加州太平洋醫學中心」。這種骨牌似的配對換腎目前仍然罕有，但已愈來愈常見。
