早在2014年9月North American International Auto Show官方（北美國際車展或稱底特律車展）就已經先公佈2015年北美年度風雲車（North American Car and Truck of the Year Awards）入圍名單。隨著2015年底特律車展開幕後，最終得獎名單也終於出爐。其中打敗新世代FORD Mustang，成為2015年度風雲車款的VW Golf，成為全美最驚訝的焦點。
