新發現深海微生物連接生命起源

科學家在格陵蘭與挪威之間的大西洋深海發現新種微生物，他們認為，這就是能把地球首批生物－－簡單細胞，與大約20億年前出現的複雜細胞生物連結起來的那個消失環節。

研究人員今天說，1群名為「洛基古菌」（Lokiarchaeota）的微生物，在海平面下約2.35公里處、距離深海熱泉系統「洛基城堡」（Loki's Castle）不遠的冰冷海床上發現。

路透社報導，這項發現讓人一窺小型簡單微生物如何演變成大型且複雜的細胞種類，進而組成菌類、植物，以及包括人類在內的動物，也就是所謂的「真核生物」。

「洛基古菌」是1群細胞相對簡單古菌的一部分。古菌的細胞缺乏細胞核等內部結構，但研究人員發現，洛基古菌具有大量真核生物也有的基因，其中許多擁有與細胞膜相關的功能。

瑞典烏普薩拉大學（Uppsala University）演化微生物學家蓋伊（Lionel Guy）表示，這些基因必定是洛基古菌的「入門器材」，讓洛基古菌得以發展細胞的複雜過程。
